Who would be
interested about information about the effects of parental incarceration on
young children?

Government (social development & correctional services)
Government will
need information as to the scope of the problem, also how co-detention affects
minors who are incarcerated with their mothers. Also, how the absent parent figure affects children. As well as information that
will guide policies about the matter.
·
Family support groups
This information
would be important for family support groups, as these groups would draw in the affected family, allowing the family to share their fears and not being alone in advercity. It is a proven fact that if we reach out and share (experiences), we the better for it.
·
Sociologists (social scientist)
Students of the
discipline of Sociology would be interested in this type of information as societies
as a whole are impacted by parental (single or both) incarceration.
·
Health worker (Social worker)
The information is
valuable for the social worker as the social worker will have to manage the well-being
of the child (family), and possibly refer the child to other health
practitioners (psychologist).
·
Religious leaders
Information of
this type is important for religious leaders as they will give moral and
religious guidance to affected children and the family as a whole.
·
Media (newspapers, magazines, radio, television)
The information
would be valuable as it would form the basis of a very good article.

How and where
would the groups that you identified disseminate the information that they
produced on the topic?
·
Government
The
government will disseminate the information in the Government Gazette; news
that is of national interest would be published in the Government Gazette. The
information will also be available at Statistics South Africa.
·
Family Support Groups
Support groups can also share activities (not information about families) of group on social media. It can also be shared with journalists or
social scientists, writing or studying about the phenomenon. Families can also
disseminate the information in sharing session in support groups, supporting
others in the process.
·
Sociologists
These social scientists
can share the information via journals that they write or present it at as a
research paper at conferences.
·
Health
workers (social worker)
Social workers can
possibly disseminate the information at conferences, or to a journalist writing
an article about the social issue. They can also be contributors to an article
about the issue in the Government Gazette.
·
Religious
leaders
The religious leaders
will disseminate information about the social problem via their weekly sermons.
There are also many weekly sermons that are broadcast via the radio stations. They
can also disseminate the information via an article/thesis that is if they are
interviewed by a journalist or researcher.
·
Media
The media will run articles, reports or documentaries
on it in the newspapers, magazines, radio shows and television shows.
